Lying between the sea and the South Down’s National Park, Goring by Sea is an attractive and wealthy area benefiting from shops, cafe’s, bars and restaurants and boasting 2 miles of pristine pebble and sand beach. The parish of Goring is reflected in the Domesday survey in 1086, under the name Garinges (after the Gara people). The name Goring is said to mean ‘people of the wedge-shaped land’ and the first community was established in Anglo Saxon times.

Situated between Worthing and Ferring, Goring-by-Sea is a small settlement of just over 8,000 people (at last census) and is a popular residential area developed mostly from the 1950’s onward. It consists of properties ranging from sea facing homes to retirement bungalows and flats with around 80% of housing stock consisting of houses and 20% flats. It is an area of predominantly owner occupiers and larger homes. Almost 50% of properties are detached and approximately 50% of all property is owned outright without a mortgage.

The area has a well connected transport infrastructure and has it’s own train station with direct trains to Brighton, London, Portsmouth and Chichester. Approximately 85%+ of housing is within 200 walking meters of either a bus stop or railway station.
